International Language Friendly School Conference

Language Friendly Schools come together at the second, international Language Friendly School Conference! This conference will be hosted by Glendale Secondary School in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on Saturday May 25, 2024. The programme includes a keynote by Jim Cummins and a wide range of language friendly workshops, given by teachers, school leaders, or researchers. After a successful conference in Breda, the Netherlands in 2022, the Language Friendly School Conference is back! Just like last time, the conference is organised by schools, for schools and in a school. This time you are invited to join us in Hamilton, Canada for the second conference. Programme

You Belong! is the theme of this second international conference. Different presentations and workshops will center around the question how we can make our students’ learning environments more linguistically inclusive. Teachers, school leaders, researchers and other education stakeholders will focus on welcoming multilingual and newcomer student to schools, school-wide activities, classroom practices, parents and community engagement, and evaluation and assessment.
