What is the fellowship?

ILED advocates for grassroots Indigenous education that preserves and passes on languages, knowledge, and ways of life to younger generations — strengthening the bond between generations and building Indigenous resilience.

The ILED Youth Fellowship supports Indigenous youth already involved in community education projects, or those looking to start new ones. It gives them the resources and support to grow as future leaders, knowledge keepers, and representatives of their communities.
Guided by a mentor, each fellow designs their own project based on local priorities.

Who can apply?

The Fellowship is open to Indigenous youth. ILED respects that cultures define "youth" differently but as a general guide, fellows are typically 25 or younger, though older applicants can be accepted with justification.

Fellows must come from an ILED member's community: either a current member or a candidate-member in the process of joining. The application can be completed by the youth fellow, their mentor, or a representative of the nominating organisation.
