ILED Small Grants Fund

The ILED Small Grants Fund mobilises financial resources to advance Indigenous-led education initiatives led by the network’s member organisations. Through this fund network members have access to direct, flexible, and low-bureaucracy funding to develop and sustain their initiatives.

The ILED Small Grant Fund was established to empower ILED members in developing and implementing grassroots initiatives focused on the preservation and transmission of traditional knowledge and Indigenous languages. These grants are designed to support community-led efforts that strengthen cultural resilience and knowledge sharing across generations.

Why a small grants fund?

At ILED, we believe that transformative work is most impactful when led by community members who understand their own contexts. Many funders overlook the vital connections between local knowledge, culture, environmental
conservation, and social justice, often favoring large-scale projects that prioritize data over meaningful, culturally relevant results. Small grants are more accessible for community based organizations (CBOs), with flexible reporting that fits community needs and rhythms, enabling them to focus on their work without excessive bureaucracy. Our network is committed to supporting this approach.
